Physician Selection AS 23.30.095

The employee may choose a licensed doctor to treat the injury (including a licensed medical doctor, surgeon, chiropractor, osteopath, dentist, or optometrist).

Change of physician

The employee may change their treating doctor once, but must tell the insurer before changing. If the doctor sends the employee to a specialist, this doesn't count as a change of doctors. If the employee wants to change to a third doctor, they MUST get the insurer's written agreement. If they change doctors more than once without the insurer's written agreement, they may have to pay the doctor's bills.
